Linkville was founded on the short Link River that flows from Lake Ewauna into Klimath Lake; it turns out to be one of only two rivers that flow through the mountains, a distinction shared with the larger Columbia River. In an effort to accept the location near the river, the town was renamed Klamaths Falls in 1884, implying that it was a large village.

Bald eagles are also seen at Klamaths Falls, Crater of the Woods National Wildlife Refuge and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, both in eastern Oregon. Those who want to cycle past the crowds have hundreds of kilometres of paths for the few cyclists.

Golfers should visit the Shield Crest Golf Club, a public golf course located on the southeast shore of Upper Klamath Lake and east of Klimath Falls.
