KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - A Klamath Falls man has been sentenced to almost six years in prison for attacking his grandmother with a kitchen knife and a salt shaker.

The Herald and News reports 29-year-old Larry Lee Townsend pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree assault.

He was arrested June 14 after the attack on his grandmother who lives in Bly. In addition to getting struck with a knife and salt shaker, the woman was punched in the head multiple times and kicked in the ribs.

Also attacked was a 49-year-old man who suffered minor injuries. Court records provide little information about the man except that he shares an address with Townsend's grandmother.

Larry Townsend's criminal history includes prior assault convictions.
